A training week for new and inexperienced skippers
One of the major motivations for completing Day Skipper training is to be qualified enough to charter a sailing yacht in the Eastern Med. The attractions of the beautiful anchorage, snorkelling and sipping sun downers are numerous, and justify all the learning and training. But new skippers are rightly nervous about the practicalities of sailing in the Med. What if there were a training week, where the right skills can be learnt and questions can be asked? And without fear of making mistakes in front of friends and family? theyachtskipper.com is here to help!
We are taking a 40 (ish) foot sailing yacht for a week, from the evening of Saturday 4 June to the morning of Saturday 11 June. Graham will be on board, so that new skippers can have the first hand experience that they are looking for. With his gentle coaching and encouragement, you will be able to consider anchoring, berthing, passage planning and even victualling!
The starting and end point of the trip is Lefkada, on the northern tip of Lefkas, in the Ionian. This has been carefully chosen since it is a common sailing area for those new to Med chartering. What’s more, it is well placed for Preveza international airport.
At this stage, there will be a maximum of 6 participants on board plus Graham. To make life easy and pleasant for you, why not book for 2, and bring along a friend or partner to share your cabin? The intention is for only 4 skippers maximum.
